BRAD LANDER LEADS FUNDRAISING IN 2025 MAYORAL RACE AFTER FIRST MATCHING FUNDS ANNOUNCEMENT

Lander unlocks matching funds, bringing his total amount raised to $5.4 million

NEW YORK, NY — Brad Lander announced today that his campaign has unlocked public matching funds for his mayoral bid, solidifying his position as having raised the most money in the race for New York City mayor. Today’s announcement and filing brings Lander’s total raised for the campaign (including matching funds the campaign has received or is eligible for) to $5.4 million.

“This incredible response shows that New Yorkers are hungry for honest, effective leadership,” said Brad Lander. “I’m proud to have earned the most grassroots support and to have qualified for the largest matching funds payment, which will ensure that we have the resources to speak directly to voters in the coming months about our plans to deliver a safer, more affordable, better-run city for all New Yorkers.”

Lander has raised $1,185,451 from 4,948 contributors, 86.1 percent of whom hail from New York City. Today, he was awarded his first public matching funds from the CFB of $2,977,758 for matchable contributions made through October 7th, bringing his current total to date to $4,163,209.

Additionally, for this filing period Lander raised $218,299, of which $103,720 is eligible for matching funds, generating a total raised this period of $1,048,009.

In total, including direct contributions and matching funds the campaign has received or is eligible for, the campaign has raised $5.4 million for the June primary. The election year spending cap for the race is $7.9 million.
The announcement comes on the heels of Lander’s release this week of a comprehensive blueprint to end street and subway homelessness for people with serious mental illness. Last week, he unveiled a broad group of elected official support in the host committee for his 2025 kickoff event, including Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, Borough President Antonio Reynoso, State Senator Liz Krueger, State Senator Andrew Gounardes, Assemblymember Robert Carroll, and Councilmember Tiffany Cabán.
