Brad Lander's Response to Grieving Families’ Request for Cuomo Meeting

NEW YORK — In response to reports that grieving families who lost loved ones as a result of Andrew Cuomo's nursing home order are requesting a personal meeting with him, Brad Lander pressed Cuomo to face the families he’s now been shunning for years:

“In 2020, I joined Peter & Daniel Arbeeny, Janice Dean, and other grieving families as they sought a simple apology from Andrew Cuomo for his deadly decision to force nursing homes to take in COVID-positive patients,” Lander said. “They never got one. 4+ years later, they’re still waiting. Will he have the basic decency to meet with them?”

As reported in the New York Post today, Peter Arbeeny — who lost his father Norman to COVID-19 during the pandemic after Cuomo’s order mandating nursing homes accept thousands of COVID-19 patients — demanded that the former governor publicly meet with him and other grieving New Yorkers in the next month to finally answer questions about his policy and its consequences. Arbeeny, a former Cuomo voter, said Cuomo has been stonewalling the families for years.
