Lander Kicks Off 2025 Mayoral Campaign With Fundraiser at Brooklyn Bowl on January 8th, Announces Host Committee of Support

Hosts include NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, NY State Senator Liz Krueger, elected officials and 60+ members

NEW YORK, NY — New York City Comptroller Brad Lander will kick off his 2025 campaign for Mayor with a fundraising event at Brooklyn Bowl in Williamsburg on Wednesday, January 8.

Over 60 hosts are supporting the event, with a diverse group of elected officials, including NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, and New York State Senate Finance Chair Liz Krueger urging New Yorkers to contribute to Brad’s campaign. In a nod to the importance of ranked-choice voting, Williams, Reynoso, and Krueger are committing to rank Brad first or second on their ballots in the June Primary election for Mayor.

“New Yorkers are hungry for honest, effective leadership,” said Brad Lander. “They want a mayor who will do more to confront the skyrocketing cost of housing and child care, someone who will make our streets and subways safer, someone they can trust to focus on their problems, stand up for their values, and deliver real results. I’m proud to be building the broadest coalition of support, which will ensure that we will have the resources to speak directly to voters in the coming months about our plans to deliver a safer, more affordable, better-run city for all New Yorkers.”

In addition to Public Advocate Williams, Borough President Reynoso, and State Senator Krueger, the host committee for Lander’s January 8th event includes State Senator Andrew Gounardes, Assemblymember Robert Carroll, Assemblymember Pharrah Souffrant Forrest, and Councilmember Tiffany Cabán

The event will feature food and drinks, mixing and mingling, an appearance by Will Butler of Will Butler + Sister Squares (formerly of Arcade Fire, who wrote the songs for the Tony Award-winning Stereophonic), bowling, and the chance to talk about Lander’s 2025 priorities and organizing strategy.

The fundraiser comes in advance of the NYC Campaign Finance Board’s next reporting deadline on January 15th. Lander’s campaign anticipates receiving approximately $3 million in public matching funds at the deadline.

“For years, I’ve known Brad Lander to be a strong leader with integrity and a long history of getting things done,” said NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams. “Brad has dedicated his decades-strong career to creating coalitions and real solutions that benefit every New Yorker. I've been proud to partner with Brad for over a decade, and look forward to that partnership toward a safer, more affordable New York.”
“From championing job protections to fighting for reliable transportation, Brad Lander has long been one of my most steadfast partners in fighting for a city where all can thrive,” said Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso. “As Comptroller, he’s held government accountable and worked to combat the city’s affordability crisis. So I am excited about Brad's mayoral candidacy."

“I have known Brad Lander for over 30 years in his various professional positions,” said State Senator Liz Krueger. “He is both a colleague and a personal friend. Brad is exceptionally smart, principled, and committed to making government do the right things for people. I have watched him live his values for our City’s communities as a council member and as city comptroller. He is ready to take on the most demanding job in our city, Mayor.”
