Assembly Member Khaleel Anderson Endorses Brad Lander for Mayor

Landers secures support in coveted South East Queens, cementing his reach across all five boroughs

NEW YORK, NY — Assembly Member Khaleel Anderson officially endorsed Brad Lander for mayor of New York City, joining Eroll Louis on Inside City Hall last night to tout that Lander, with his record of winning a City-wide election, “has a strong chance to beat Governor Cuomo” and can put our City back on track. Representing Assembly District 31 in South East Queens, Anderson is the youngest Black Assembly Member in New York State history.

"Our City desperately needs a leader right now with a lifelong track record of putting us first and standing up for working people. Brad Lander is that leader, and the only candidate with the broadest coalition to beat Andrew Cuomo, which is why I'm excited to endorse him to be our next Mayor,” said Assembly Member Khaleel Anderson. “Ten thousand Black New Yorkers left AD31 over the past decade, so Brad got to work and used the Comptroller’s office to better understand these trends and has centered his campaign on issues we care about most: smart public safety reforms and alleviating the housing crisis. I’m proud to call Brad my friend and when he's Mayor, we'll continue to work in tandem to deliver better, more livable communities in Queens and across the city.”

“I’m honored to have earned the support of Khaleel Anderson, a longtime friend of mine who I’ve supported since his 2020 run for the legislature, which made him the youngest Black Assembly Member in New York State history,” said Brad Lander. “I’m proud that our campaign is the only that boasts support from the Upper West Side to South East Queens, securing the broadest coalition of the mayor’s race.”

In the just past week alone, Lander has also secured the endorsements of Congressman Greg Casar, Indivisible Brooklyn, 504 Dems, and Unity Dems.

Lander, who has the deepest and widest coalition of any candidate in the race, leads the mayoral pack in Democratic club endorsements, including Bay Ridge Democrats, Three Parks Democrats, Broadway Democrats, Village Independent Democrats, Upper West Side Action Group, Hell’s Kitchen Democrats, Independent Neighborhood Democrats, New Kings Dems, and Central Brooklyn Independent Democrats.

Lander has also received endorsements from UAW Region 9A, New York Progressive Action Network, JFREJ, and NYC Organization of Public Service Retirees, and support from the widest coalition of elected officials, including NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, State Senator Liz Krueger, State Senator Andrew Gounardes, Assemblymember Robert Carroll, Councilmember Tiffany Cabán.

Lander’s campaign coffers total over $6.71 million, well above the pace needed to surpass the mayoral race’s $8.3 million spending cap.
