College Democrats of America Endorse Brad Lander for Mayor

NEW YORK, NY — Today, Fordham College Democrats, College Democrats of New York, and College Democrats of America have endorsed Brad Lander for New York City Mayor. This endorsement signals a powerful shift in momentum as young Democrats rally behind candidates who are deeply committed to building a more just, equitable, and sustainable city. As the June mayoral election approaches, student leaders are demanding bold policies and fresh energy to shape the future of New York City. The group also included Zohran Mamdani and Jessica Ramos in their unranked slate.

“Young people are the future of our city, our country, and our planet,” said Brad Lander. “Especially at a time when our fundamental rights are under attack from the Trump Administration, I’m honored that the College Democrats of New York have endorsed me as the candidate to lead New York City out of our housing, affordability, and public safety crisis and welcome in a new era of growth and abundance for our next generations.”

“Brad Lander brings a comprehensive plan to confront the housing crisis, expand access to universal pre-K, 3K, after-school programs, and childcare, and lead the city toward a net-zero carbon future by 2040. His agenda addresses both the immediate and long-term needs of working families,” said Daniel Sponseller, President of the Fordham College Democrats.

“The moment we’re in demands bold, visionary leadership rooted in the will of the people — not billionaire donors or the broken status quo,” said Alexander Fisher, President of College Democrats of New York. “New Yorkers are calling for leaders who will stand firm against authoritarian overreach and push back on the growing influence of corporate power in our politics.”

“College Democrats stand united in fighting for a stronger New York City for all, and that is not possible with Eric Adams or Andrew Cuomo in power,” said Cameron Landin, Political Director of College Democrats for America.

Lander has the deepest and widest coalition of any candidate in the race, with support from NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, State Senator Liz Krueger, State Senator Andrew Gounardes, Assemblymember Robert Carroll, Councilmember Tiffany Cabán. He recently secured the endorsements of the Working Families Party, Congressman Greg Casar, and Assembly Member Khaleel Anderson.

Lander leads the mayoral pack in Democratic club endorsements, including Indivisible Brooklyn, 504 Dems, and Unity Dems, Three Parks Democrats, Broadway Democrats, Village Independent Democrats, Upper West Side Action Group, Hell’s Kitchen Democrats, Bay Ridge Democrats, Independent Neighborhood Democrats, New Kings Dems, and Central Brooklyn Independent Democrats.

Lander has also received endorsements from UAW Region 9A, New York Progressive Action Network, JFREJ, and NYC Organization of Public Service Retirees.

Lander’s campaign has raised over $7.2 million and will soon surpass the mayoral race’s $8.3 million spending cap.
