Working Families Party Endorses Brad Lander for Mayor
Today, the Working Families Party (WFP) endorsed Brad Lander for Mayor, granting him one of the most coveted endorsements in the New York City mayoral contest. Lander will attend their announcement event tomorrow at City Hall Park at 1 p.m.
“As a WFP member since 1998, I’m deeply honored to earn their endorsement for Mayor of the greatest city in the world,” said Brad Lander. “I’ve run on the WFP line since my first City Council election in 2009 and fought side by side with them to secure New York working families paid sick leave, and gig and fast food workers fair wages. When I’m Mayor, I’ll partner with WFP to deliver a safer, more affordable, better run city so that all working families can build their lives here as I have.”
In the just past week or so alone, Lander has also secured the endorsements of Congressman Greg Casar, Assembly Member Khaleel Anderson, Indivisible Brooklyn, 504 Dems, and Unity Dems.
Lander, who has the deepest and widest coalition of any candidate in the race, leads the mayoral pack in Democratic club endorsements, including Bay Ridge Democrats, Three Parks Democrats, Broadway Democrats, Village Independent Democrats, Upper West Side Action Group, Hell’s Kitchen Democrats, Independent Neighborhood Democrats, New Kings Dems, and Central Brooklyn Independent Democrats.
Lander has also received endorsements from UAW Region 9A, New York Progressive Action Network, JFREJ, and NYC Organization of Public Service Retirees, and support from the widest coalition of elected officials, including NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, State Senator Liz Krueger, State Senator Andrew Gounardes, Assemblymember Robert Carroll, Councilmember Tiffany Cabán.
Lander’s campaign coffers total over $6.71 million, well above the pace needed to surpass the mayoral race’s $8.3 million spending cap.
