Another Day, Another Win: Brad Lander Secures Endorsements from Top Democratic Clubs Independent Neighborhood Democrats and Village Independent Democrats

Lander strengthens his longtime Brooklyn support, expands into Manhattan

NEW YORK, NY — Today, two of the most prominent democratic clubs across New York City, Manhattan’s Village Independent Democrats and Brooklyn’s Independent Neighborhood Democrats, endorsed Brad Lander for Mayor. With this support, Lander strengthens his deep-rooted ties to Brooklyn and expands his momentum into Manhattan, making strides on other candidates’ turf. On Wednesday, Lander earned the Upper West Side’s coveted Three Parks Independent Democrats endorsement over Scott Stringer.

Lander also secured an impressive 67% of the VID vote, one of the longest-standing reform Democratic clubs in the City established in 1957, and was a key organizing partner for the famous “Vote Blue” buses during the 2024 presidential election.

“We're proud that the Village Independent Democrats endorsed Brad Lander for Mayor,” said VID Co-Presidents Sara Kimball and Irene Kaufman. “Brad embodies the values of the club that are essential to moving our city forward—fighting for equity, justice, and opportunity for all New Yorkers. In this pivotal moment in history, we need a leader who will stand up for every New Yorker, from our most vulnerable communities to our thriving neighborhoods. Brad's bold vision and leadership will ensure that our city remains a place where everyone has the chance to thrive.”

“Brad Lander is no stranger to the Independent Neighborhood Democrats, and we know him to be a candidate with decades of experience in affordable housing and public service, unparalleled integrity, and problem-solving agility on some of the most complex policy areas,” said IND President Seamus Campbell. “Brad is the leader we need right now as Mayor because he is someone who can stand up for New York City’s values and has the track record to prove he can win.”

“Earning the endorsement of these prominent democratic clubs highlights the strength of the grassroots campaign we’re building, including the support of some of the City’s most politically engaged New Yorkers,” said Brad Lander. “New Yorkers travel too long, to work too many hours, to pay too much rent – all to worry too much and feel too unsafe. It’s time for strong, experienced leadership that delivers real results for New Yorkers, and I’m honored IND and VID know that I’m the candidate for the job.”

In just the past week or so alone, Lander secured endorsements from Three Parks Independent Democrats, New York Progressive Action Network, and Upper West Side Action Group, in addition to UAW Region 9A.

Lander also boasts the widest coalition of elected official support that includes NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, State Senator Liz Krueger, State Senator Andrew Gounardes, Assemblymember Robert Carroll, and Councilmember Tiffany Cabán.
