Another Day, Another Win: Central Brooklyn Independent Democrats Endorses Brad Lander for Mayor
NEW YORK, NY — Today, Central Brooklyn Independent Democrats endorsed Brad Lander for Mayor, strengthening his deep-rooted ties to Brooklyn after securing endorsements of another prominent Brooklyn club, Independent Neighborhood Democrats, last week. Founded in 1968, CBID represents western central Brooklyn, which Lander has represented since he was in the City Council.
Support for Lander’s mayoral run expands past Brooklyn: he’s also landed coveted endorsements from Manhattan clubs including Three Parks Independent Democrats, Village Independent Democrats, and Upper West Side Action Group.
“Central Brooklyn Independent Democrats is pleased and proud to endorse Brad Lander for Mayor of New York City,” said CBID President Sharon Harkey. “As a City Council member and as Comptroller, Brad has been a strong leader, bringing intelligence, integrity and competency to both positions. He will bring the progressive values we share as proud New Yorkers to bear on the city as a whole. CBID has supported him for many years and looks forward to helping bring about his victory in the upcoming primary and in the mayoralty in the fall.”
“I am honored to have the support of the Central Brooklyn Independent Democrats, who I’ve proudly represented since being elected to the City Council in 2009,” said Brad Lander. “CBID’s endorsement is another strong addition to our campaign’s momentum, where we’re continuing to build the widest coalition of support and the largest money warchest to deliver our message of a safer, more affordable, and better run New York City.”
With $5.4 million raised for his campaign, Lander is also leading the pack of mayoral candidates in fundraising. Just yesterday, the Campaign Finance Board awarded Lander a new infusion of matching funds, cementing his lead in the money race.
Lander has also received endorsements from UAW Region 9A and New York Progressive Action Network, and support from the widest coalition of elected officials, including NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, State Senator Liz Krueger, State Senator Andrew Gounardes, Assemblymember Robert Carroll, and Councilmember Tiffany Cabán.
