Brad Lander Tops All Challengers to Cuomo & Adams in New Poll

Lander emerges as the clear alternative to the corrupt agents of chaos embroiled in scandal

NEW YORK — Today, a poll conducted by the Manhattan Institute shows that Brad Lander is the leading candidate to take on disgraced former Governor Andrew Cuomo and scandal-plagued Mayor Eric Adams in the race to City Hall.

“While Andrew Cuomo and Eric Adams lead in name recognition at this early phase, Brad Lander has the most grassroots support, widest political coalition, strongest momentum and clearest path to take on these corrupt agents of chaos,” said Campaign Manager Alison Hirsh. “New Yorkers have a choice between having to endure another four years of scandal, with a mayor only in it for his personal gain — or Brad’s strong, experienced leadership, outstanding public integrity, and real solutions to tackle our toughest problems.”

In the ranked choice simulation for June’s primary election, Lander is the last of the other contenders standing — Zohran Mamdani, Zellnor Myrie, Jessica Ramos, Scott Stringer are eliminated in earlier rounds — to face Cuomo and Adams.

While Adams and Cuomo’s net favorables are underwater at -46% and -3%, respectively, Lander enjoys a huge advantage in the potential to grow his vote share, with a strong net positive favorability of +13%.

The poll comes on the heels of tremendous momentum for Lander’s campaign, which announced the broadest coalition of support last month including NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, New York State Finance Chair Liz Krueger, State Senator Andrew Gounardes, Assemblymember Robert Carroll, and Councilmember Tiffany Cabán. He also leads the field in fundraising enabling him to have all the resources needed to communicate his vision and record to New Yorkers.

Last week, the Independent Honan Strategy Group released a poll that found Lander defeating all Cuomo contenders, including Adams, in both initial and ranked choice voting. Their poll echoed the findings of Lander’s own internal poll, conducted by the nationally renowned Global Strategy Group, in December. In that poll, when voters were read information about each of the candidates, in a RCV simulation, Lander was the only candidate to make it to the final round with Cuomo. Those findings are available upon request.
