Indivisible Brooklyn Endorses Brad Lander for Mayor
Lander won staggering 73% of INBK’s first-choice vote; ranked in top 3 by every endorsing member
NEW YORK, NY — Indivisible Brooklyn (INBK) announced its endorsement of Brad Lander for Mayor today, highlighting his critical role in leading the charge on anti-Trump organizing and rallies during the first Trump administration, which led to the group’s founding. In the club’s ranked choice vote, Lander won a staggering 73% of the club’s first-choice vote, as well as ranked in the top three on every single ballot. The club also endorsed Lander in 2021 for NYC Comptroller.
"It is such a full-circle moment for Indivisible Brooklyn to be endorsing Brad Lander for Mayor. Our group formed in December 2016 as one of the first working groups of Get Organized Brooklyn, an organic and deeply-felt movement spearheaded by Brad in the earliest days of Trump's first term,” said founding member of Indivisible Brooklyn Lisa Raymond-Tolan. “Eight years later, we are proud to stand behind someone with such deep ties to our community, our activism, and our values as he steps up to lead our beloved city."
“I’m delighted to have the backing of Indivisible Brooklyn in the race to City Hall, who I’ve been side-by-side with in the fight against Donald Trump since 2016,” said Brad Lander. “Their support solidifies our campaign’s stronghold in Brooklyn and will help bolster our mission to end the Adams-Cuomo nightmare of endless scandal and corruption and restore our City to be the democratic beacon we’ve always been."
After the 2016 election, Brad co-founded Get Organized BK with Rabbi Rachel Timoner and emerging leaders, bringing thousands of Brooklynites together to stand up to bigotry, corruption, and the injustice of the Trump regime. Many of the spin-off organizations that emerged through Get Organized BK — Indivisible Brooklyn, BKForge (formerly WHARR), Red2Blue — have continued to organize in partnership with local and national organizations.
Lander leads the mayoral pack in Democratic club endorsements, having increased his total in recent days with the Bay Ridge Democrats. Total political club endorsements also include Three Parks Democrats, Broadway Democrats, Village Independent Democrats, Upper West Side Action Group, Hell’s Kitchen Democrats, Independent Neighborhood Democrats, New Kings Dems, and Central Brooklyn Independent Democrats.
And Lander has received endorsements from UAW Region 9A, New York Progressive Action Network, JFREJ, and NYC Organization of Public Service Retirees, and support from the widest coalition of elected officials, including NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, State Senator Liz Krueger, State Senator Andrew Gounardes, Assemblymember Robert Carroll, and Councilmember Tiffany Cabán.
Lander’s campaign coffers total over $6.71 million, well above the pace needed to surpass the mayoral race’s $8.3 million spending cap.
